Business Continuity Tip of the Month

Believe it or not?

Do you believe in Father Christmas?

For some, perhaps the more innocent or naïve amongst us, he’s real. For others, perhaps those of us who are a little more worldly-wise, he’s completely fictional; a myth; a charming fairy story. Many of us get to a certain age and start to question our previously perceived reality; maybe start to look for proof. For some of us, the realisation that things weren’t as we thought they were can be a painful experience.

Do you believe that your business continuity plans are all they’re cracked up to be?

We can sometimes fall into the trap of believing what we want to believe without question, only to find out later (sometimes painfully) that the truth isn’t what we thought it was. We find out that our plans are out of date, not workable or based on flawed assumptions.

Whilst it can be comforting to believe in something whole-heartedly and without question, it can be a bit of a shock to find out that it’s not true. As we move forwards, we need to look for proof that things are actually what they claim to be. Sometimes it’s a good thing to question our beliefs and to validate our assumptions.

So why not check whether you can still believe in your business continuity plans, and that they’re not fairy stories too!

Merry Christmas!
