The NPST is a registered UK Charitable Trust, established by a small group of beneficiaries keen to help patients and their relatives in areas where the NHS cannot help. The stated aims of the trust are :

• The assistance of patients and former patients suffering from disease or disability for which the NHS can offer no further help.
• Help for carers of patients and former patients.
• Help for children affected in the above cases.
• Support for charitable work carried out by any NHS Hospital Trust.
  

The aim is to provide short term, immediate help, simply and quickly.
